Week 1 - 2018

I was inspired by my friend Lana to start keeping a blog to document our year. I'm making a goal to post something weekly for 2018.
To start us out:

Amy and me at Book on Tape Worm's annual Slumber Party Show.

Sad teething baby getting four teeth all at once.

Our aggressively affectionate child.  He likes to kiss (read: maul) everything he can sink his little teeth into.  His stuffed animals, our faces, and in this case his own reflection.

Unimpressed with the snow.  He tried to eat it and decided it was way too cold.

Happy New Year! Tom and I rang in the New Year snuggled up at home with a movie and Christmas candy.

Emily, Joe, and Clark came up to visit us this week.  The babies accidentally matched thanks to Grandma Woodbury. Lucas wears this outfit three times a week, so the coincidence was less surprising than it seems. :)

Penned in at Nana and Grandpa Bingham's house.  We went down and spent a couple of days seeing Luc's grandparents.  He won't sleep at night and I was at my breaking point... hooray for family though! My mom watched Lucas for a night while I went and slept at the Woodburys. It was my first night away from him. It was a bit emotional for me but I desperately needed some uninterrupted sleep.

Swingin.

The outfit (again!). Luc playing with his first big Christmas gift. Santa brought him a noisy giraffe walker. He's been loving it. It lights up, talks to him, and sings him songs. Perfect for when I am comatose on the couch from yet another sleepless night.
While we're all perpetually exhausted around here, life is good.  Tom has been at his new job for two months now.  He's doing really well and enjoying it a lot. Lucas has started walking. His official first steps were about two weeks ago. But this week he has made a ton of progress. He regularly takes up to 6 steps at a time, can bend down to pick up toys without having to sit, and is very proud of his ability to get into everything.

Today marks ten months since Luc joined our family. He's growing and changing so fast. I'm hoping that this regular blogging will help this year me less of a blur in my sleep deprived mind than 2017.

Favorite Lucas moments/milestones from the week:
- His new habit of craning his neck around corners to grin at you.
- Lucas scaling the stairs while laughing maniacally at his dad chasing him.
- The new tricks he has been learning. He flexes his muscles and grunts when you ask him if he's strong, gives high fives, signs "light" and "ceiling fan", dances on cue, and asks "num num num" when he wants to eat (especially if you sit down to attempt to eat the food you've prepared for yourself).
- Lucas is obsessed with anything orange. Cheddar cheese, orange juice, sweet potato, carrot, etc. One thing he hates though is Cheez-its. I tried to eat a couple in front of him and he came begging (as usual). I let him taste one and he immediately spit it absolutely everywhere. The same thing happened on two more occasions. I have finally learned to eat them in secret to avoid the beg/spit routine. (eyeroll)
