Surprise Nana visit. |
Nanas read you the same book 500 times in a row when your mom is all tapped out. |
My tiny Valentine. |
Giving kisses. |
My full size Valentine. We enjoyed all you can eat sushi and Blade Runner 2049 on Blu Ray. |
Hanging shelves in the living room. |
The living room (pre-shelf installation). It's finally coming together. It's nice to start feeling like we are settled in to our home. |
Lucas this week:
- Likes to mimic animal noises when we read books. He has his elephant trumpet down. His sea lion bark is also coming along nicely thanks to Belle and his Uncle Bub.
- Has learned to climb up the furniture. Nothing is safe.
- Keeps waking up at 5 in the morning. We are not amused.
- Ate insane amounts of food. Seriously. Adult sized portions.
- Started blowing on his food before eating. (Monkey see, monkey do.)
- Enjoyed going to story time at the library. We left early, though, when he spit up into my purse. Ugh.
This week was not a happy mothering week for me. Lucas has been gnawing on the furniture, waking up really early (and also waking up throughout the night), and crying all day long. He screams if he isn't given 100% of my attention 100% of the time. He cannot be redirected and distracted from whatever goal he has. And unfortunately, his goals generally include destruction and peril. I'm trying to focus on the happy memories. I'm also trying to remember that his determination and drive are going to serve him well in the future. I'm grateful to have a supportive bunch of family and friends. I'm grateful to have a healthy kid. I'm grateful that he is learning. And I'm grateful that week 7 of this year is over.
