Week 40 - 2018

A very proud boy going down a slide all by himself.

The mall play area was deserted for an hour this week. Luc had the whole place to himself and he definitely made the most of it.

I bought myself these pants with some of my birthday money. I feel very Katherine Hepburn in them.

Snuggles on a chilly October morning.

Trying on papa's shoes. He managed to get them on at one point and shuffle around the room.

More snuggles.

Enjoying a cup of Dandy Blend courtesy of my dear friend Lana. Perfect for a rainy, blustery day.

Tom's birthday party! Tom was saying how he's run out of "milestone" birthdays - he's been 16, 18, 21, 25, etc. However, I disagreed. Thirty-five means you can run for president! So we had a Happy Birthday, Mr. President themed party. I neglected to take a picture of the cake before we cut into it. It was white cake with lemon curd and vanilla buttercream.

Some birthday party jenga.

My bookshelf this month. All the spooky books and Halloween lights.

Re-reading The Haunting of Hill House for the 80th time.

Our curious explorer at Ikea.
Dipping chicken (or as he calls it - bock) in ketchup.

Playing with electric candles in the (now very dark) morning hours.

Probably telling my that he really, really needs to open this cupboard.

This week:
- Luc has decided that all words should be made plural. He puts an "s" at the end of everything - cars, bears, clocks, shoes, etc etc. The silliest words though are people's names. For instance, Tom is no longer "papa" or even "pa". He is now "pas."
- Luc's obsession with dogs continues. Even when the park is empty, no dogs to be found, he insists that I acknowledge that, yes, dogs do indeed appear in the park sometimes. And we need to discuss it extensively.
- Luc is very excited about all the new sights of fall. He is particularly interested in pumpkins in all their forms. Luc points out every pumpkin he sees and demands to know what it is called. He giggles every time I say pumpkin.
- Luc's latest quirk as that he likes to have double of everything. If I give him a cracker, he needs a second one for his other hand. If he is playing with cars, he needs one for each hand. Every time I pick him up from the gym daycare, he is clutching doubles.
- Luc learned the hard way that hot things burn this week. He reached up and touched the griddle while we were making breakfast the other morning. He earned himself three blistered fingers and a lesson on why you should probably listen to your parents when they tell you not to touch something. Sigh.
