Week 48 - 2018

Playing with Nana. He needed ALL the toys to sit on these two riding toys. Then he held on to the second one to turn them into a choo choo.

Snuggling with his sad mama.

Sitting on Nana and Grandpa's coffee table.

Smooshing his face on a plastic box. Maybe only I find this hilarious.

Rainy day playtime.

Chowing down on a quesadilla and watching TV.

Trapped in a million blankets. It's either this or cling to mama 24/7.

Coloring with papa.
This week:
- We all had colds. Luc was very clingy and pathetic. Or put more kindly, vulnerable and cuddly. The cuddles were nice... the tantrums less so.
- Luc has started to refer to himself in the third person a lot of the time. He calls himself "Wooc".
- Wooc insists on us participating in his games now. He physically dragged me off the couch and demanded "knees!". So I knelt down and he pushed me and said "walk!" Then we shuffled around the living room together on our knees while he cackled. A similar game is "night!". This is where Luc pushes you over and you are supposed to close your eyes and fake snore loudly. He tells everyone in the room to take a turn and then says, "Wooc! Night!" and does it himself.
- Luc has started to echo back anything and everything you say. This is awesome and also mortifying. He was driving me crazy the other day and I finally snapped and yelled "Enough!". He then whimpered and said, "Enough, enough, enough...". :( Annnnd I felt like the meanest mom ever.

This week was a really hard week. Between everyone in the house coming down with colds and my health drama, it was not a banner week for health and well-being around here. After months of beings unwell, my gastroenterologist said enough is enough. He scheduled me for an impromptu colonoscopy (I only had enough notice to complete the prep in time). My diagnosis officially changed from UC to Crohn's. My medication is going to be changing because I am no longer responding to the Entyvio and there is some question over whether I will require surgery at some point to deal with the damage done by the Crohn's. So. I've been trying to wrap my head around all of that. I'm waiting on our insurance to pre-authorize the new medication. Hopefully I can get started on that treatment soon and start feeling better.

I debated sharing any of the above publicly. I'm generally pretty open about having IBD but sometimes it feels strange to open up about what is going on. However, this week is Crohn's and Colitis awareness week.

You can click here to learn more about IBD (inflammatory bowel disease - this is a broader category encompassing both Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis).
